Open Business School, about

The Open Business School (OBS) was founded in 1992. OBS is providing professional educational programmes and courses on management, marketing and international reporting standards mostly in format of 'weekend classes'. Students receive sufficient study materials for individual usage. Face-to-face component consists of mostly seminar-type classes.

Since 1992 more than three thousand experts have raised the qualification with OBS. There are individuals and companies from different businesses who chosen to combine the studies with those day-to-day duties.

The Open Business School started its performance as a provider the Open University Business School (UK) courses in St Petersburg. Started in 1992 with separate courses in management, now OBS provides support in St Petersburg for all variety of courses offered in Russia by the Open University Business School (UK) in collaboration with IIM LINK (Russia), including fully accredited The Open University Business School MBA programme.

OBS is providing its long term educational programmes in collaboration with non-Russian institutions, such as the Open University Business School (UK), MDC Group - IME (Finland), AFW Wirtschaftsakademie Bad Harzburg GmbH (Germany). Also there are programs aimed on preparation for IAS/IFRS examinations, such as International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) examinations, Institute of Professional Financial Managers (IPFM) examinations, DipIFR (ACCA) examinations. The programme for IAS/IFRS/DipIFR preparation itself and the study materials are developed by the Open Business School.

OBS has agreements with some regional dealers (educational providers) in Russia (Saratov, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk and others), which provide programmes in marketing and IAS/IFRS with local support (administration and tutors).

Besides long-term programs OBS offers different seminars and trainings in open and corporate modes. The most popular are:

• "Management Basics" - tailoring corporate course for middle management, 30-60 study hours,
• "Marketing Planning" - tailoring corporate course, 20-40 study hours,
• "Budgeting Basics" - tailoring corporate course, 20-40 study hours,
• "Finances for Non-financial Managers" - seminar (could be provided in training format),
• "Art of Managing Projects" - seminar (could be provided in training format),
• "Control and Planning Fundamentals" - seminar (could be provided in training format),
